Fritillary Count

Every year since 1999 the Floodplain Meadows Partnership has carried out a fritillary count as part of their ongoing research on North Meadow. The count is carried out by about 50 volunteer recorders.

Emma Rothero from the Floodplain Meadows Partnership explains in the video below the importance of this research and some of the research findings following the extensive flooding in 2012/13.

The Snakes Head Fritillary has an interesting lifecycle which is explained in the Floodplain Meadows Partnership Snakes Head Fritillary Leaflet.
